When people think about motorsport, they often think about the racing itself. What many don’t see is the extensive work taking place behind the scenes to protect riders, clubs, organisers, volunteers and venues.
At NORA Motorsport, ensuring all motorsport remains safe, sustainable and accessible is a responsibility we take seriously. A key part of that commitment is our ongoing partnership with Attis Sport Insurance, our appointed insurance broker.
As we continue to grow across a wide range of two, three and four-wheel disciplines, regular discussions take place between NORA Motorsport, Attis Sport Insurance and insurers to make sure our insurance programme evolves alongside the sport we represent and support.
A Partnership Built on Understanding the Sport
Nigel from Attis Sport Insurance believes the relationship works because of NORA’s deep understanding of motorsport and its willingness to proactively tackle challenges.
Nigel said: “As the appointed insurance broker for NORA92, we are very pleased to be able to work with such an experienced and knowledgeable team.”
“NORA92 has a very wide involvement in all types of two, three and four-wheel motorsport. Working together with NORA92 and insurers allows us to provide an insurance programme for the sport as a whole.”
Nigel explained that NORA’s practical approach and understanding of the sport helps insurers understand both current and emerging risks.
“They are a very good organisation to work with because of their can-do attitude. In discussions with insurers, they display their understanding of all aspects of the sport and regularly propose solutions to new developments that allow the sport to continue to thrive.”
This collaborative approach has helped establish a strong long-term relationship between NORA, Attis and insurers.
Protecting Riders, Clubs and Organisers
Insurance is only one part of the support provided under the NORA Motorsport banner.
Alongside insurance protection, NORA works closely with clubs and organisers to implement regulations, event procedures, safety documentation and operational standards designed to create safe environments for riders, officials, volunteers and spectators.
These processes play an important role in helping events run safely while giving clubs the support and structure they need to operate successfully.
Looking Ahead to 2027
Work is already underway on NORA’s 2027 insurance programme.
One of the key priorities is ensuring cover remains affordable for grassroots motorsport while continuing to improve the protection available across all disciplines.
NORA Director Roy Barton commented:
“Our responsibility doesn’t stop at creating regulations. We work hard behind the scenes to ensure riders, clubs and organisers have the right protection in place while keeping participation as affordable as possible.”
“We’re already working with Attis and our insurers on future improvements for 2027 because protecting grassroots motorsport is an ongoing commitment, not a yearly exercise.”
Supporting Riders When They Need It Most
NORA’s insurance programme includes up to £20 million public liability cover, providing significant protection across affiliated activities and events.
The programme also includes personal accident cover for riders, officials and volunteers. For younger competitors, additional protections are in place, including cover that remains available until a rider reaches the age of 18, with a further three-year period available for claims where appropriate.
NORA and Attis are also exploring ways to further improve rider support, including reducing the current personal accident excess period from 45 days to 14 days, helping injured riders access support sooner where possible.
The Role of Attis Sport Insurance
As NORA Motorsport’s appointed insurance broker, Attis Sport Insurance works closely with insurers and the governing body to develop and manage specialist insurance solutions for motorsport.
In addition to the cover already supporting NORA-affiliated activities, Attis can also provide specialist insurance solutions for clubs, teams, venues, businesses and individuals involved in motorsport.
These include:
- Commercial Combined Insurance
• Public & Employers Liability
• Personal Accident Cover
• Travel Insurance for Sporting Activities
• Motorsport Motor Trade Insurance
• On Track Insurance Solutions
• Management & Cyber Liability
• Motor Fleet & Collection Insurance
• Event Cancellation & Contingency Cover
Supported by specialist insurers and a team that understands the realities of motorsport, Attis continues to work alongside NORA Motorsport to ensure the sport remains protected, sustainable and ready for future growth.
Together, NORA Motorsport and Attis remain committed to supporting riders, clubs and organisers while helping grassroots motorsport continue to thrive for years to come.
A Final Note from NORA Motorsport
For NORA Motorsport, insurance is about far more than simply having a policy in place. It forms part of a much wider commitment to protecting riders, supporting clubs and ensuring organisers have the tools they need to run safe, successful events.
Roy Barton, Director at NORA Motorsport, said:
“We have a very open and positive relationship with Nigel and the team at Attis. Regular conversations take place throughout the year, not just at renewal time, which allows us to discuss new disciplines, changes within the sport and opportunities to improve the support available to our members.”
“We’re already working on the 2027 programme because we want to continue delivering value for our riders and clubs. One of our priorities is maintaining affordable insurance for grassroots motorsport whilst continuing to improve the protection available.”
“The relationship works because Attis understands motorsport, and they understand what we’re trying to achieve as a governing body. Together, we’re focused on creating a long-term solution that helps the sport continue to grow safely and sustainably.”
