We’re proud to welcome a brand-new discipline under the NORA Motorsport umbrella: Car Oval Racing. Kent Outlaw Oval Racing becomes our first officially affiliated club, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for grassroots competition within the NORA community.
Introducing Kent Outlaw Oval Racing
Kent Outlaw Oval Racing (KOOR) is an established, non-profit club dedicated to delivering fun, competitive and affordable short-oval racing. Operating from Lydden Hill Race Circuit – known as one of the fastest ovals in the UK – KOOR runs regular race meetings throughout the season, providing close, action-packed motorsport for drivers and spectators.
Their Racing & History
KOOR provides a diverse range of racing, ensuring something for every type of driver. Their popular classes include:
- National Outlaws
- OpenRods
- LyddenRods
- MiniRods
- 1400 HotRods
- Junior MiniRods: a new introductory class for drivers aged 13–17, designed to encourage youth participation through a cost-effective, entry-level category.
The club’s race meetings typically run once a month from March to November, creating a consistent and well-structured calendar for competitors. Over the years, KOOR has built a reputation for delivering friendly, well-organised and family-focused race days, bringing together a passionate community of oval-racing enthusiasts.
Introducing the Club’s First Ever Junior Minirod Formula
A major milestone for KOOR – and one that aligns closely with NORA’s focus on youth pathways – is the launch of their first ever Junior Minirod Formula.
To mark this introduction, the club held a practice day on November 15th, where five new junior drivers took to the track at Lydden Hill for the very first time.
Across the day, those young drivers completed multiple sessions and made clear progress on track. As the club proudly summarised:
“The 5 juniors drove really well and improved during the day. We managed to give them 4 x 10-lap practice sessions between our racing and the fog coming down. At the end of the day, we held our trophy presentation and, to include the juniors, I gave them all a trophy to remember the first ever Junior Minirod event.”
This early success marks a strong foundation for future youth development within the oval racing community.
