Over the three days of August 13th to 15th, Monster Mountain in South Wales hosted the annual NORA CRS Development Team Summer Boot Camp.

All ten riders attended the event where during the three days the riders were given training and support from Team Trainer Stephen Sword and assisted by Joe Clayton working on cornering techniques, starts, body positioning, line choices and more. Riders who attended on the Tuesday evening, riders came together for the weekly call with Team Co-Creator Coach Robb Beams all the way from America discussing nutrition, health and performance.

Team Manager, Andy Watts gave his thoughts on this year’s Boot Camp “We welcomed our NORA CRS Youth Development riders and families to the fantastic facility at Monster Mountain in Wales. With the guidance and experience of our two trainers Stephen Sword and Joe Clayton. The riders enjoyed and embraced everything for the three days. I would personally like to thank Darren Lewis and his team for allowing us to use his facility, Stephen and Joe for their time and the team for embracing what was a terrific three days of memories, that I am sure will stay with them for some time.”

Following the boot camp, we asked the riders for their thoughts:

“NORA CRS Bootcamp is where my passion meets discipline. I’ve pushed my limits to become a better version of myself on the track.” – #46 Jesse James

“Awesome couple of days with all the team at Monster Mountain. Learning conditions were really good as we were on a rough track from the previous event. It was really fun riding both the race track and the all-weather race track. Thanks to Stephen Sword and Joe Clayton for training us, every time I was on the 250cc I felt like I was improving. Thanks to Andy and Gemma for organising everything from the BBQ to the new kit, to the call with Coach Robb. Everything was really well organised and it was great getting to know all the team better.” – #167 Jack Evans

“Being in the NORA CRS Team just keeps getting better. An amazing boot camp with top quality coaching from Stephen Sword and Joe Clayton. I excelled in all areas under their expert guidance. Monster Mountain did not disappoint” – #447 Rafe Symons

“Being part of the NORA CRS Development Team and getting to be part of the Boot Camp with two top coaches was a great experience. I learnt so much after being out for so long and my confidence is growing. A huge thank you to Gemma, Andy, Roy and the coaches for a great three days and for letting me part of the team.” – #128 Reuben Mcnally

“I had a superb time at Monster Mountain on August 13th to 15th. I think I won the prize for the most and heaviest crashes on the first day but despite that I continued to pick up some very useful tips from Stephen Sword and Joe Clayton. I rode the track for the first time the previous weekend for the Bridgestone Masters and couldn’t find my flow with the unfamiliar track. Following the boot camp I now feel more confident to hit the track at greater speed and the knowledge for tackling the technical sections correctly. Many thanks to the NORA CRS team and coaches for their time in helping everyone.” – #114 Mitch Conway

“A great three days spent with all the team. The advice from Stephen Sword has been fantastic and will be put into good use when I return to Monster Mountain for MX Master Kids event next weekend.” #48 Joseph Horn

“I found the event absolutely fantastic. The three days were packed with riding, learning, team conferences, media work and fun. 3 days of Moto Specific training by rider coaches Stephen Sword and Joe Clayton, who both offered a variety of Insight into the different aspects of riding- including technique, body positioning, line choices, mental standpoints. All reinforced by the theoretical side and physiological benefits taught by Coach Robb, which from the get go, proved to have massive benefits for all the riders in the group. The vision from every single person included, especially Roy, Gemma, Andy and Robb, team partners/sponsors, coaches, riders and parents, brought to fruition the level of dedication and hard work put in throughout the year to get us all to this point, and the benefits of the programme shone through. For me personally I found the event great, and feel it to be such a massive Privilege to apart of the Team. I can only thank all of those named, and also my personal sponsors too!
I look forwards to our next event.” #4 Tom Butler
