As we continue the countdown to the 2026 NORA Motorsport Team Event at Foxhill Moto Parc on September 5th & 6th. We caught up with Lawson Benjamin, Chairman and Team Manager for Corsham Schoolboy Scramble Club who is looking forward to this years event once again and with the goal of going into the team event for the title.
Here is what Lawson had to say.
How do you feel about competing in the NORA Motorsport Team Event, and what does it mean to your team?
“It is important for NORA and the clubs to compete in the team event as it brings the club members together and they get a chance to interact with others which helps the community within the clubs.”
How do you prepare your riders to perform as a team rather than as individuals like racing at other events?
“We try and give them a relaxed, stress free atmosphere and encourage them to just go out and enjoy themselves and be proud of their efforts but also to stay focused as a team member.”
What excites you most about bringing your team to this event?
“It is rewarding to see the team members go out and ride for each other and it is a time that we as organisers can relax and enjoy the racing.”
How do you select riders for your team for an event like this?
“As per the NORA team event rules, the teams are selected from the top 3 in the club champs and a wildcard. The wildcard selection is always a difficult choice but that adds to the excitement.”
What would you like to see from your team by the end of the event?
“Nothing more than a smile on their faces and sense of achievement regardless of where the team finishes.”
Are there any special mentions or thanks to sponsors of your team you wish to share?
“We would like to thank the club sponsors for all their support throughout the year and for the team shirts. Most of all a special mention must go to the riders who support the club year in and year out, without this the clubs would not be able to compete in events like this and it is not just about the riders in the team but all the riders that support us. The atmosphere at the club meetings are a credit to the riders who support us.”
