Summit 46 Amateur Motocross Championship Round 2 Report

Staying on the old school trend Summit 46 rolled into North Nibley for round 2 of their 2021 Amateur Motocross winter series and what an absolute gem of a day it turned out to be, running their first Auto class, the first appearance from a British champ and their first time racing in a Saturday!

The aforementioned British Champion was none other than former MXGP rider Graeme Irwin who not surprisingly blitzed to three straight wins in the Adult A group ahead of the resurgent Luke Dean and Adam Chatfield.

Matt Gardiner rolled back the years with a triple dose of moto wins in the Adult B category beating Dean Cummings in each moto. The podium was completed by Kyle Banks in third.

Daniel Leak was the opening Moto winner in Adult C but Ricky Britton fought back hard and took the chequers in the remaining two motos to claim the overall over Leak with Robert Thorogood in third.

The Youth classes have seen many young riders moving up a group making their first appearance in the group they will be racing in next year.

The Rookies was no exception to this with Ben Mustoe moving up from the Big Wheel 85’s in style taking the overall with two moto wins to second-placed Toby English’s one. Harry Ridgway was third.

There was tons of talent in the Big Wheel 85’s with the superfast Freddie Gardiner showing he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Big Wheels in 2022 by taking a hat-trick of victories over Harlow Green and Fabian Morrison.

George Clark emerged from the Small Wheel 85’s with a perfect scorecard and grabbing the overall ahead of Louis Challenger and Harley Quinn.

In the Junior 65’s Walt Carroll put in an outstanding performance going 1-1-1 to notch up the overall from Jayden Neale and Freddie Joyner.

The latest addition to the series is the Auto class and mixing in with the 65’s the little ones did a fantastic job on the old school track.  Logan Lewis was first past the pole in the opening moto, but it was Jaxon Bishop who came to the party later in the day with double moto wins and the overall for the day. Huey Sansom had a solid day and would finish in second with Lewis third.

Round 3 of the series is back at North Nibley on the 6th November with entries available here >>
