Alan Birtwistle became the first-ever Nora Motorsport Electric Flat Track Champion with the DTRA in 2021 so we find out more about Alan in our latest Profile of a Nora Champion…
Where are you from? Southport, UK.
What type of sport do you race in? Flat Track.
What bike do you ride? A modified ALTA Redshift MXR.
What Championship did you win? DTRA DTE Electric Flat Track Championship.
What was your toughest race in the championship? The first round at ‘Greenfield Dirttrack’. I had some technical problems but was able to iron them out in time for the race and win.
Who was your biggest rival? Joe Banks on the Zero FX.
What was your best race on the way to the title? The final round at Peterborough. As well as winning the round, I managed to get the fastest lap of all classes, including the main (engined) UK Pro class.
How does it feel to be British Champion? It feels good. I’ve had a few years out of the saddle since my last Pro class British Championship win, so it’s good to have come back and gained a win in an exciting new electric class.
What are your goals for 2022? Depending on sponsorship interest, I plan to defend the title.
Who would you like to thank for their help? I’d like to thank the guys from ALTA Motors who have helped me out, especially Dale Lienweiver – former head technician and AMA Pro FT mechanic.
