Thrills Await at Leighton Motorcycle Hill Climb 2025

Historic houses like Carnforth’s Leighton Hall often conjure images of tranquil grounds and the occasional cry of a bird of prey. But on Sunday, 27th July 2025, the calm will be shattered by the roar of high-powered motorcycles as the much-loved Leighton Hall Motorcycle Hill Climb returns.
This adrenaline-packed spectacle is a must-see for competitors and spectators alike, standing out as one of the most exciting and competitive events on the off-road motorcycle calendar. The gates open at 8:30 AM, with practice runs beginning at 9:30 AM and around 150 thrilling race sprints kicking off from 1 PM.
The course stretches over 220 meters of uphill challenges, featuring a crowd-pleasing 60-degree bend just 50 meters from the start line—a daunting task for racers reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. With no engine size restrictions, speed limits, or noise caps, the event is a full-throttle celebration of all things motorcycling.
Expect a dazzling array of machines, from modern superbikes to classic, vintage, retro, and even quirky creations like mopeds and custom-built contraptions. Riders of all experience levels—veterans and newcomers alike—are encouraged to participate in this inclusive, family-friendly event. With reduced entry fees for multiple bikes, the lineup promises plenty of surprises and laughs.
Safety at the event is ensured by Marshals North West, a dedicated team of volunteers who manage race events across the region while supporting charities such as the North West Air Ambulance and North West Blood Bikes.
Tickets are £8 in advance or £10 on the day, with free entry for accompanied under-16s. Admission includes access to Leighton Hall’s gardens and tea rooms, as well as family-friendly attractions like the Woodland Walk, Tree Face Trail, and play areas. Drones, however, are not permitted for safety reasons.
Michael Clear, Secretary of Marshals North West, shares:
“It’s an honor to be part of such an exhilarating event. With the historic hall and stunning Lakeland fells as the backdrop, the Leighton Hill Climb is truly unique on the racing calendar.”
