A UK First: Motorcycle Hill Climb at Scammonden Dam – Sunday, 7th September 2025

After thrilling events at Hoghton Tower and Leighton Hall, Marshals North West returns with its boldest and most exciting challenge yet — the Scammonden Dam Motorcycle Hill Climb, taking place on Sunday, 7th September 2025.

We’re making motorsport history, as this is believed to be the first-ever motorcycle hill climb held at this dramatic and unique venue.

A One-of-a-Kind Location

Scammonden Dam offers a racing experience like no other. Set in the heart of the Deanhead Valley, the course is built on the dry side of a dam that actually supports the M62 motorway between junctions 22 and 23. There’s no other motorsport venue in the UK quite like it.

The Course

The timed hill climb challenge stretches 503 metres, climbing approximately 60 metres in elevation. Riders will navigate:

·        Two left-hand and two right-hand bends

·        Smooth, flowing tarmac

·        Fast straights

·        A 150-metre braking zone beyond the finish

It’s a controlled, and thrilling ride that demands both precision and performance.

Competition & Classes

Open to riders of all levels, the event features multiple classes, including:

·        Modern Sports & Road Bikes

·        Classic & Vintage Motorcycles

·        Lightweight & Middleweight Machines

·        Run What You Brung – Got a bike and want to give it a go? This is your chance! From commuters to customs, anything roadworthy goes.

Whether you’re aiming to top the leaderboard or simply want to experience the thrill of the climb, there’s a class for you.

One-Event Licences – All Ages Welcome!

No racing licence? No problem.

One-event licences will be available on the day, making it easy and affordable for newcomers to take part.

Open to riders of all ages (subject to bike suitability and basic safety checks), this is your opportunity to get a taste of motorsport without a long-term commitment.
