Motorcycle Hill Climb at Scammonden Dam

After an eventful but successful debut last year, Marshals North West returns for the second year running with its boldest and most exciting challenge yet — the Scammonden Dam Motorcycle Hill Climb, taking place Sunday 6th September 2026. This groundbreaking event continues to make motorsport history at one of the most dramatic and unique venues in the UK.

A Truly Unique Venue

Set deep within the dramatic Deanhead Valley, Scammonden Dam is unlike any other motorsport venue in the UK. The course runs up the dry side of a dam that actually supports the M62 motorway between junctions 22 and 23 — creating a racing backdrop you won’t find anywhere else.

The Course

A fast, flowing 503-metre climb with around 60 metres of elevation gain. Riders will take on:

  • Two left-hand and two right-hand bends
  • Smooth, sweeping tarmac
  • Rapid-fire straights
  • A 150-metre braking zone beyond the finish

A safe, controlled, exhilarating challenge that rewards skill, speed, and precision.

Competition Classes

Open to riders of all abilities, with classes including:

  • Modern Sports & Road Bikes
  • Classic & Vintage Motorcycles
  • Lightweight & Middleweight Machines
  • Run What You Brung — from commuters to customs, if it’s roadworthy, you can ride it!

Whether you’re chasing a class win or just want to feel the adrenaline of the climb, there’s a place for you.

No Licence? No Problem.

One-event licences will be available on the day — perfect for newcomers wanting to try motorsport without a long-term commitment.

Open to riders of all ages (subject to bike suitability and basic safety checks).
