Hoghton Tower Sprint
Ready to Ride? Don’t Miss the Hoghton Tower Motorcycle Sprint
Are you a motorcycling enthusiast hungry for a unique, adrenaline-fuelled day out? The Hoghton Tower Motorcycle Sprint delivers classic sprinting at one of Lancashire’s most iconic historic venues — and this year’s event is shaping up to be unmissable.
The Course
The sprint runs up the ascending driveway to Hoghton Tower, a dramatic 3-metre-wide tarmacadam road between the automatic gate by the gatehouse and the crossroads just before the Tilting Green.
The timed section is 1/8 of a mile, with both Start and Finish on the incline — putting both rider and machine to the test.
After the finish line there’s an additional 1/8 mile braking zone, giving riders space to slow safely.
Who Can Enter / What’s On
The Sprint welcomes bikes of all classes: vintage, classic, modern — from 125 cc up to 1001 cc and above. There are also subclasses for race bikes, “run what you brung”, Supermoto, junior riders and more.
You don’t need a full-season licence — one-event licences are available, making this an excellent opportunity even if you just want a day on the throttle.
Spectators & What to Expect
Spectators are warmly welcomed — previous events opened gates around 09:30am, with action continuing through until around 5 pm.
Expect a full day out: classic and modern bikes screaming up the hill, a paddock full of striking machines, plus food stalls and refreshments (and the regular Hoghton Tower Tearoom) on site.
But remember — the driveway is steep, and spectator viewing is from grassy bankings on either side, which may be muddy. So wear sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing
Please note: the event is strictly no-dogs — for the safety of all.
Why It’s Special
Hoghton Tower isn’t just any backdrop. It’s a historic Grade I-listed manor house, perched on a hilltop in Lancashire — soaring stone walls, gatehouse entrance, and centuries of history giving the sprint a dramatic, almost cinematic atmosphere.
The Sprint has been a staple of Lancashire’s motorcycling calendar for decades — beloved by both riders and spectators alike.
