An absolutely huge entry turned out at Culham at the weekend for the second staging of the Pro Alloys of Melksham sponsored Motocross and Speedway Memories Reunion Motocross meeting.

The event promoted by Lee Ashby and Kevin Wheeler brought friends from the days of 80’s and 90’s schoolboy motocross and the heyday of British Speedway together for a weekend of racing, beer, reminiscing and good times.

This year’s meeting attached some top names with Luke Burton onboard his Team Fus Marsh MX Husqvarna being the cream of the crop, taking all three MX1 moto victories as well as taking the Super Final win for good measure. Josh Taylor had two punctures in the MX1 class but was always in the top 5 and came out swinging in the Superfinal finishing second on his Torbay MX Yamaha. 3rd in the Super Final was Ultimate Wheels Honda team member James Dodd who also had consistent 5 x 2nd places to Luke Burton in MX1! But the top 7 in MX1 was red hot with Luke Burton, James Dodd, Mark Young, Josh Taylor, Corey Hockey, Steve Bixby, & Tommy Alba all swapping around places in that top 7 each race!!

Over in MX2 Kieran Banks on the Meredith backed Fantic 250f won 4 out of 5 races, his colours only being lowered in the last moto by last year’s MX2 champ and 2021 super final winner Harvey James on the GasGas who ended the weekend second with Danny Lanfear who was exciting to watch on his 125 KTM third.

Former BSMA champion Shane Holmes took 4 out of 5 wins in 125cc Evo/Super Evo class, only getting just beaten in the last moto of the weekend by Scott Mathia who was 2nd all weekend till stopping Holmes from a clean sweep. Matt Holcombe stood on the third step of the podium.

250/500cc Evo/Super Evo class was very competitive with Glen Phillips and Tommy Alba trading race wins! But Phillips and Alba dropped races with bike blowups so it was last year’s Super Evo champion Oliver Consterdine who kept in the top 3 all weekend taking the overall ahead of Nathan Davies in second and Gary Brown third.

Darren King took max points in the Vets over 45 class with 5 out 5 wins, being miles out in front and winning each moto by half a lap! But the battles behind were stacked for the top 3 in each race with amazing battles all weekend between Steve Elford, Tony Hale, Russ Jarman, & Leon Day. In the end, though Elford gained second with Hale third.

The Inters was competitive all weekend with no one dominating the races. Finly Abbott won motos as did Dan Hartley. Adam “Dodger” Gustafson was always in the mix along with Daniel Saunders putting up some great battles all weekend long. On the box though it was Abbott, Hartley and Gustafson in that order.

Novice 1 was competitive all weekend. The favourite who was 2nd last year was former BSMA champ Vaughn Williams, but unfortunately, he broke his shoulder blade and cracked ribs in the 1st race of the weekend. we wish him all the best. We spoke to him and he is in good spirits and looking to be back! We wish all the injured riders all the best, heal up asap and get back out there!

But the racing was amazing between the top 5! Luke Lambert took some race wins, but a bad race knocked his overall to 5th! The battle for the win all weekend was between eventual overall winner Martin Curtin, and especially Paul Maynard and local supported well known BSMA man Adam Prior as the two were stuck together all weekend in the top 3!

Taylor Othen got maximum points in Novice 2 over Jordan Keene in second and Gary Ades third who were both in the top three in each moto.

In Novice 3 Colby Walker only dropped one race win to eventual runner up Daniel Jones with Haydn Carter third.
